The University of Nairobi, through its ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between industry and academia, launched the second cohort of company series and hosted a highly successful Company Series Interactive Day on September 6, 2024. This event, held at UoN Towers, brought together 77 students from the Faculties of Engineering and Science & Technology and industry leaders from prominent companies such as Bureau Veritas, Total Energies, Bamburi Cement, Olvea Kenya, Camco Equipment and Schneider Electric. The day-long event provided a platform for students to develop communication skills, gain insights into industry expectations, and prepare for the job market, reinforcing the University’s mission to align academic learning with real-world applications.

This initiative is closely aligned with the broader goals of the Afretec Network, of which the University of Nairobi is a member. Afretec seeks to drive technological advancements across Africa by fostering collaboration among its university partners, including Carnegie Mellon University Africa, the University of Lagos, and others. The network emphasizes producing locally relevant innovations, developing a digital knowledge ecosystem, and fostering a vibrant technology startup culture.
By hosting events like the Company Series Interactive Day, the University of Nairobi is playing a vital role in advancing these objectives, preparing students with the skills and connections needed to thrive in a globally competitive technology landscape while also contributing to the growth of a digital innovation culture across Africa.
