For years, a gap has persisted between industry and academia. Addressing this challenge, the UoN Directorate of University Advancement and Institutional Development, supported by AFRETEC, launched the Company Series program. Inaugurated by COO and the Director of University Advancement and Institutional Development, Mr Briam Ouma, the event signaled a proactive effort to foster collaboration and bridge these worlds effectively.
This event, led by Prof. Marc Zolver, a foreign expert and advocate for industry-academia linkages, aimed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application.
Fifty students attended the event, representing the five departments of Civil and Construction Engineering, Electrical and Information Engineering, Environmental and Biosystems Engineering, Geospatial and Space Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. Their presence showed they were eager to learn practical things beyond what they learned in class.
At the center of this crucial event were also esteemed industry professionals from Bureau Veritas (BV) and Geothermal Development Company (GDC). The day program comprised structured sessions designed to foster interactive learning and collaborative spirit. In a round table discussion with students, the industry experts shared invaluable perspectives on current practices, technological advancements, and industry expectations, enriching students’ understanding of their respective fields.
The company series Interactive Day was not just a start, but a significant moment. It showed how working together between universities and industries can help create future leaders and innovators.
