Develop an applied African digital knowledge and research ecosystem which promotes collaboration and responds to continental, national and sector challenges and opportunities

The Knowledge Creation Pillar is a commitment to build research capacity in Africa. This will be achieved through the formation of a digital knowledge creation ecosystem that will support, promote, enhance, and enable African scholarship in areas of importance to Africa’s digital inclusive transformation. The knowledge creation ecosystem aims to provide a platform for researchers to share best practices and establish multi-institutional research collaborations while pursuing exciting and topical research that contributes toward driving the inclusive digital transformation of Africa.

Objectives

Increase participation of UoN faculty and students in the Afretec mentorship program
Increase number of proposals submitted to the Afretec infrastructure funding and external
funders per year
Create a database with UoN and Afretec network faculty and students with shared expertise and
interests
Increase number of faculty and staff mobilities per year
Create a database of funding agencies and ensure it is updated annually
Increase number of MOUs with strategic partners per year
Increase number of staff and students facilitated to write and submit proposals to internal
Afretec calls
Increase number of staff and students attending Afretec workshops and doctoral academies in
UoN and partner universities
