UoN Afretec Knowledge Creation Pillar Hosts Successful Proposal Writing Training Workshop

The UoN Afretec Knowledge Creation Pillar recently held a two-day Proposal Writing Training Workshop at UoN Towers, September 9-10, 2024. The event aimed to strengthen grant writing skills among university faculty, enhancing their capacity to secure research funding and drive innovation.

Day 1 featured key presentations from university leaders and experts on financial planning, procurement, staffing, and legal considerations for grant projects. Participants also benefited from real-world insights shared by senior researchers, learning strategies to navigate the complexities of managing and executing successful grant projects.

Day 2 focused on the technical aspects of crafting compelling grant proposals. Facilitated by an expert from the Faculty of Health Sciences, the sessions covered proposal writing processes, budgeting, and strategies for aligning with donor priorities.

The workshop hosted 50 in-person participants and 20 virtual attendees. Through this initiative, UoN aims to enhance its research output and increase its competitiveness in attracting regional and international funding. This training aligns with Afretec’s goal of fostering knowledge creation by equipping faculty with the tools to secure funding and enhance UoN’s research capabilities. It is expected to play a key role in positioning UoN as a leading research institution regionally and globally.
